Taking requests

I am currently working on some deals to acquire more European documentary for the site. I want be able to offer the joiningthedots.tv users as broad a spectrum of film as we can possibly get. With Greek, Italian, Polish, Czech and Norwegian productions being screened and evaluated by us at the moment, the summer will see releases that give a different perspective on current affairs, life, love, death and sex. I will also start to delve into our content holder’s back catalogues to try and secure some older film. By doing this, in time, we can really start to show the tradition and progression of documentary through the last century, from country to country. If you have any titles you can suggest please get in contact and I will see what I can do.

Hot Docs and new titles

A child from Calcutta with Zana Briski

A child from Calcutta with Zana Briski

We are putting together some superb packages of films, which will be released on the site soon. New titles in our first update in May, will include the 2006, Oscar-winning: Born into Brothels by Ross Kauffman and Zana Briski and the Oscar-nominated: Waco: Rules of Engagement from William Gazecki. 10 new titles will be available overall, but more on them later.

Tim is on the hunt for more films at Hot Docs, in Toronto, this week and has finalised a deal which will enable us to sell DVDs of selected joiningthedots.tv titles via the site. We will also be introducing greater levels of interactivity soon, including our new “Rate This Film” feature.

If you’re interested, also have a look at the Wikipedia page giving information about the Waco Siege, as well as the Wikipedia page for Born Into Brothels. Also interesting to look is the official website for Born Into Brothels and the cause featured in the documentary: ‘Kids with Cameras’.

The Unwinking Gaze premiere

The Dalai Lama

The Dalai Lama

The pursuit for great documentaries for joiningthedots.tv is going well. We have been at MIPTV in the last week talking to producers and distributors about the site and getting some really encouraging interest from everyone.

We have finalised our opening cinema release in the UK for June. Our new Dalai Lama film, The Unwinking Gaze, will premiere at selected Picture House cinemas nationwide. The documentary, by Joshua Dugdale, follows the Dalai Lama over 18 months, whilst he tries to negotiate with China over the future of Tibet and reveals the Buddhist leader in a light never seen before on film. The Unwinking Gaze will be available to joiningthedots.tv viewers shortly after.

Also have a look at Wikipedia and the Dalai Lama’s official website to find out more about him and his causes.

Hello world!

Welcome to day 1 of joiningthedots.tv. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at MPS whose contribution to today has been invaluable and in particular Ann, Johan, Ronnie and John. I also want to thank Jason, Kaz, Patricia and Ben and of course the producers and distributors who have invested so much in terms of their films and their belief in the joiningthedot.tv concept.

We have some great films on the site already and will be adding new films over the weeks and months. In addition interactive elements will emerge enabling you our viewers and members to communicate directly with the site and with each-other.

On May 15th our partnership with The Independent will go live. We will tell you more about that soon.

Do enjoy the site and check us out regularly.

Tim
